Paolo Gaetani MD - Scientific Advisor
Co-founder of PharmaExceed, Paolo Gaetani MD has a distinguished international profile and co-leads several research initiatives, in investigating the efficacy and the safety of the exosomes based therapy with a particular focus on the Intervertebral Disk Disease, Stroke and Parkinson's Disease models. .
He previously served as Director of Neurosuregry, IRCCS Policlinico S.Matteo, Pavia, Italy.
In the recent years he has been Principal Investigator in Research Project “Diagnostic and prognostic value of exosomes isolated from patients with glioblastoma”.
Born in Milano, 8/9/1956, graduated cum laude in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pavia (1981), Almo Collegio Borromeo alumn. Neurosurgery residency cum laude diploma at the University of Pavia (1986), Clinical Neurophysiology residency diploma (1992) at the University of Pavia. Assistant at the Department of Neurosurgery at the IRCCS Policlinico S.Matteo, Pavia, Italy (1988-1997). Vice Chairman, Department of Neurosurgery, Istituto Clinico Humanitas, Milan, Italy (1997-2012). Assistant at the Department of Neurosurgery at the IRCCS Policlinico S.Matteo, Pavia, Italy (2012-2013). Director of the Department of Neurosuregry at the IRCCS Policlinico S.Matteo, Pavia, Italy (2013-2017).

Awards: - First Prize for the communication "Study of Prostaglandin D2 in the subarachnoid hemorrhage from ruptured intracranial aneurysm", at the National Symposium, Turin 23 October 1984; - Special National Award for Young Researchers "Albert Schweitzer" - 3M Italy, for the presentation: "Diagnosis of intracranial pathology pertaining neurosurgery by Computed Tomography in sagittal section," Caserta, Italy, April 1985; - "B.Guidetti" Prize – Italian Society of Neurosurgery for the presentation "Role of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant enzyme systems in the pathogenesis of neuronal damage resulting from SAH", September 1991. During his research activity Dr. Gaetani has been also supervisor of 1 PhD student in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies and 3 medical students and 2 intern in Neurosurgery. He is author and co-author of over 200 publications: over 130 papers published in international journals, 28 in national journals, 49 chapters in Congress Acts Volumes, 20 chapters in monographs and / or treaties. He is also author of 4 informative books on spine diseases for the general public.
