Angelo Guido Corsico MD, PhD - Scientific Advisor

Co-founder of PharmaExceed, Angelo Guido Corsico has a distinguished international profile and currently is research leader in diagnosis, treatment  and epidemiology of respiratory diseases. His role in PharmaExceed is investigating the efficacy and the safety of the exosomes based therapy in these particular disease.

Dr. Corsico is Associate Professor of Respiratory Diseases at the University of Pavia. Born in Milano, 5/4/1965, Dr. Corsico graduated cum laude in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pavia (1990). Here he received his specialization cum laude in Allergy and Clinical Immunology (1994) and in Respiratory Medicine (1998). He received his PhD in Experimental Lung Physiology from the University of Parma (Italy). He was a postdoctoral fellow and a research associate at the IRCCS Policlinico S. Matteo Foundation, Pavia (Italy). Since 2005 Dr. Corsico was Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Molecular Medicine of the University of Pavia. Since 2010 Corsico was promoted to Associate Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the Department of Molecular Medicine and currently at the Department of Internal Medicine and Therapeutics of the University of Pavia.

Corsico is active staff of the “Respiratory Diseases Division, IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo Foundation" Hospital in Pavia. Here, since 2012, he is the Chief of the Respiratory Allergy Unit and in 2014 he was appointed the Director of Center for diagnosing and coordinating the Italian Registry for alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency.

 

Dr.Corsico is a fellow of the European Respiratory Society (ERS), member of the Steering Committee of the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS), member of the Functional Committee “Registries and Biobanks” of the European Reference Network (ERN)-LUNG, and  officer of the Executive Committee of the Italian Respiratory Society (SIP/IRS).  

 

The scientific activity, documented by more than 100 publications, was devoted to:

  • Structure-to-function relationship in asthma, COPD and emphysema,

  • Lung function after bone marrow transplantation and after specific surgical procedures,

  • Asthma and COPD epidemiology, in the frame of the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (responsible for the ECRHS quality control in Italy).

  • Diagnosis and epidemiology of Alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency.
